Gravity recovery from SWOT altimetry using geoid height and geoid gradient

چکیده

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) altimeter mission can measure high-resolution wide-swath sea surface heights (SSHs) that may greatly improve the current accuracy spatial resolution of marine gravity from nadir-looking altimeters. To investigate potential SWOT in recovering high-quality how observation errors should be treated to optimize anomaly observations, we create high-wavenumber SSH components multi-beam depths northern South China Sea (SCS) simulate errors. cross-validate signals avoid SWOT, use two computational methods (inverse Vening-Meinesz formula, IVM inverse Stokes' integral, ISM) recommend separate optimal data processing strategies when using geoid gradients (GGs) (GHs) for recovery. GGs (for IVM) effectively eliminates systematic derivation. If GHs are used recovery, tilt SSHs removed before computation, recovered must filtered (post-processed) artificial due Our assessments mgal-accuracy shipborne anomalies SCS show multiple-cycle observations deliver anomalies. is more robust than ISM resisting random SWOT. validation SWOT's fast-sampling science phases. • We mimic altimeter's depths. Deriving 2hz Ers-1 Geodetic Mission Altimetry for Gravity and Marine Geoid Purposes

In the coastal zone (<25 km to the coast) altimetric gravity field determination degrades due to a combination of several factors, where the main reason is the degradation of the quality of the altimeter data. By starting out from the original waveform data and retracking the entire ERS1 GM mission using a highly advanced expert based system of multiple retrackers, the return time from both ope...

global estimote of geoid's potential, sst and marine geoid based on satellite altimetry data

using satellite altimetry derived mean sea level (msl), geopotential coefficients in terms of ellipsoidal harmonics from recent satellite gravimetry missions, gravity potential values over a grid consisting of 33,486 points at global sea areas are computed and the mean value of the gravity potential at msl is calculated as a new geoid’s potential value. in this way we have exactly followed the ...

The Auvergne test on quasi-geoid estimation has been set up in co-operation with IGN and EGGP. IGN supplied the gravity, DTM and GPS/levelling data while EGGP contributed in assessing the test procedures. A first comparison between the computations performed by six different groups have been presented during the last Hotine-Marussi Symposium held in Rome (July 5-9, 2009). The results of this te...
